Are you in the summer frame of mind?  You know....enjoying the warm weather, spending time outdoors, maybe an afternoon at the beach or the lake?  Think you have all the time in the world to buy your first home? 

Think again....it would be a BIG MISTAKE to wait until the end of the year to get shopping for your house.  Because this is the year that you can get an $8,000 tax credit from the government if you close escrow by December 1, 2009!  In this age of thinking green, that's too much green (as in $$) to leave on the table! 

The real estate market is VERY competitive these days and to give you a little perspective on the timing....if you need to close escrow by December 1, you need to be in contract by Oct. 15 at the latest, but better by Oct. 1.  In this market, it could take you 2-3 months to find a property and get an offer accepted.  That takes us back to...YIKES!....NOW!

Right about now, everyone you know is probably telling you that they're getting a great new interest rate on their loan.  And you may be able to do the same thing!  But remember, each loan has different criteria and your situation may sound just like your friend's....but it may not be.  The best advice I can give you....call me!  Interest rates change daily and often, several times a day.  We need to be ready to lock the best rate for you when it becomes available and to do that, I need to have your loan package. 

There is "rumor" that rates may drop after the new President is inaugurated next week.  I hope that's true!  But in these uncertain economic times, it also go the other way.  What we do know is that if you are ready to buy a home and can afford it, or want to refinance your existing loan and can get a rate that you like, do it now!
